The SamsunState Opera and Ballet (SAMDOB) is scheduled to stage "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" once again. SAMDOB will put the timeless opera on stage on March 11 and March 13. Having premiered in 2011 in Ankara, the opera chronicles the stories of Esmeralda, a beautiful gypsy woman, and the hunchback Quasimodo who tries to protect Esmeralda from the evil priest of the cathedral.
The opera's music is put together by Bujor Hoinic who brought French composer Cesar Pugni's "Esmeralda" and his own composition together is also the maestro of the orchestra along with maestros Hakan Kalkan and David Mukeria. The choreography of the two-act opera was undertaken by Armağan Davran while its libretto belongs to Volkan Ersoy.
On stage, David Khozashvili plays "Quasimodo" as Ilgaz Erdağ plays "Esmeralda," Orçun Ünal plays "Gringoire," Emre Örgüt plays "Captain Phoebus," Anna Gorgiashvili plays "Fleur de Lys," Orkun Baydoğan plays "Clopin" and Miray Boyacıoğlu plays "Frollo." The stage makeup of Khozashvili who plays "Quasimodo" belongs to Mahmut Akyol and İnanç Ekin who spend three hours on the actor before the show begins.
