Bomb disposal teams on Wednesday detonated a suspicious bag in Istanbul's Beşiktaş district, which turned out to be empty after the spot where it was discovered was sealed off.
Police squads were deployed on a street next to the headquarters of Turkuvaz Media Group, where Daily Sabah is also located, after residents tipped police on an unattended laptop bag suspected of containing explosives.
The bomb scare came one day after two other alerts in the city's Vatan Avenue, near the headquarters of Istanbul police and near a military officers' club in Kadıköy. Both turned out to be false alarms.
Last week, a time bomb was discovered in front of the offices of Star Media Group, which operates a national newspaper and TV station. Bomb squads had detonated the bomb before its explosion.
