PKK terrorists opened harassing fire against Turkish security forces in eastern Şırnak province late Monday and killed a Turkish soldier. With this attack, the number of killed Turkish security personnel, since the PKK announced on Saturday that it halted terrorist activities against Turkey, rose to five, three of which were soldiers and the two others were policemen.
Before Monday's attack, a policeman was killed with six others wounded in a bombing attack in Diyarbakır's Sur district on Saturday. The attacks continued during the day and two soldiers were killed in Erzurum's Şenkaya district on Sunday afternoon. Another officer was killed on Monday morning in the Ergani district of Diyarbakır. Since Turkey's June 7 general elections, the PKK terror organization stepped up its attacks against Turkish security forces and civilians, killing more than 100 Turkish security personnel.
