Nation-wide museums in Turkey free to all at night

What if you could visit a museum in the moonlight? On Tuesday, the worldwide community of museums celebrates International Museum Day, and many museums around Turkey will be free to the public until 11:00 p.m. Thirty museums in different cities, including the Antalya Museum, the Anatolian Civilization Museum in Ankara, the Istanbul Archeology Museum, the Zeugma Mosaic Museum in Gaziantep, the İzmir Archeology Museum, the Mevlana Museum in Konya, the Sinop Museum and the Bodrum Underwater Archeology Museum in Muğla are participating.
Participation in International Museum Day is growing in popularity at museums all around the world. In 2015, more than 35,000 museums participated in the event in some 145 countries.
The theme of 2016 International Museum Day is Museums and Cultural Landscapes, which is also the theme of the General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) to be held in Milan, Italy from July 3-9. Held on May 18 each year, the events and activities planned for celebration of International Museum Day can last a day, a weekend or even an entire week.
