Two village guards were killed and three others wounded when the PKK terrorist group attacked a minibus with rocket-propelled grenades in the southeastern Diyarbakır province Wednesday, according to a military source.
The source, speaking anonymously due to media restrictions, said the guards came under attack when they were returning from the Tepe region following a security operation. The casualties were taken to the Diyarbakır Selahattin Eyyubi State Hospital. An operation to apprehend the assailants remains underway.
Meanwhile, a PKK terrorist was killed and another was wounded in an operation against the terrorist group in the northeastern Erzincan province on Wednesday, the regional governor's office said in a statement. Gendarmes seized items including two Kalashnikovs, a walkie-talkie and binoculars, the statement added.
