Jill Biden, wife of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, who is accompanying her husband during his three-day visit to Turkey, had a meeting with President Erdoğan's wife Emine Erdoğan on Saturday at Adile Sultan Palace in Istanbul.
During the meeting, Biden told Erdoğan that she was glad to see Turkey has changed a lot since the last time she visited the country's capital in 1980s where you could see a soldier keeping watch with a rifle in his hand at every corner.
The meeting was also attended by Holly Holzer Bass, wife of US envoy to Turkey John Bass, and the president's daughter Sümeyye Erdoğan.
Biden also paid a visit to the famous Hagia Sophia Museum from the Ottoman era and shopped at the Arasta Bazaar in the Sultanahmet district of Istanbul.
