A roadside bomb hit a passenger minibus near the Somali capital Mogadishu early Thursday, with witnesses putting the death toll at 15.
Police officer Nur Hassan was unable to confirm the number, but said that "many bodies, including women, were scattered on the road."
Witnesses said at least seven people were injured. The bus, which was split into two, was believed to have carried 22 people.
It was not immediately known who carried out the attack. The terrorist group al-Shabaab has often targeted military vehicles on the same road, located south of the capital.
