Istanbul Fashion Week (IFW) kicked off yesterday with four different fashion shows.
Organized by the Istanbul Fashion Academy (IMA), the Fashion Designers Association (MTD), the United Brands Association (BMD), and the Istanbul Ready Wear and Ready Made Exporters Union (İHKİB) in order to promote Turkish designers and brands in the international arena, for the next four days Istanbul Fashion Days will host a number of individual and combined runway shows.
Set up in front of the Tepebaşı TRT Parking Lot, on the first day of Istanbul Fashion Week the 600-person capacity tent hosted runway shows by both the Argende and Tween brands as well as by designers' İpek Arnas, Aslı Güler, Jale Hürdoğan and Atıl Kutoğlu in both individual and combined shows for the approval of fashion lovers.
American actor, director and screenwriter Matt Dillon accompanied Orka Group Chairman of the Executive Board Süleyman Orakçıoğlu to watch the Tween brand's fashion show.
A total of 21 runway shows for 22 different designers and five brands will be held at the fashion event and will include the likes of Mehtap Elaidi, Niyazi Erdoğan, Özlem Kaya and Nejla Güvenç.
Istanbul Fashion Week will be introducing the summer 2012 collections of participating brands and designers. Bahar Korçan will be holding a workshop for students. Over 40,000 visitors are expected to frequent this year's Istanbul Fashion Week, while over 100 members of the press from France Italy, Spain, Russia and the Middle East will be covering the event.
Buying groups from France, Italy, Spain, Russia and Lebanon are also expected to visit Istanbul Fashion Week which will continue until Saturday, September 11th.
