SALT's the Maker Movement in Libraries program is organized in parallel with the 52nd Library Week in Turkey between March 29 and April 3. As part of the program, the documentary "Maker" will be screened on March 29 at SALT Galata Auditorium. The 65-minute documentary will be subtitled in Turkish.
Directed by Mu-Ming Tsai, "Maker" is a feature-length documentary that looks into the current Maker Movement in the U.S. - a new wave of Do-It-Yourself and Do-It-Together. Sometimes called the "Third Industrial Revolution," The Maker Movement subverts traditional manufacturing by building on innovative concepts such as open source, crowd-funding, and digital fabrication. Breaking the hobbyist movement stereotype, Maker delves deep into this ecosystem of design and manufacturing in the Internet era. The film explores the ideas, tools, and personalities that are driving the movement.
