Turkey's first and only exhibition featuring artwork made of carved eggshells, "From Egg to Art," is open until July 9 at EXPO 2016 Antalya.
Organized by the Afyonkarahisar Governorate and the Municipality of Afyonkarahisar with contributions from private sector representatives operating in Afyonkarahisar, journalist and author Murat Akarçay is the curator.
The art of eggshell carving, which uses special drills and delicate piercing objects, is considered one of the most delicate forms of etching, requiring elaborate hand work. Many art critics characterize the art of eggshell carving as, "the most fragile state of art" compared to other forms.
The work of artist Yusuf Eygören, a prominent eggshell carving master in Turkey, have been brought to Antalya as part of EXPO 2016's cultural and artistic events.
