The Antalya Culture and Arts Center (AKS) has organized an education program to take place July 4-9 to offer art workshops in line with the "İmparatorluktan Portreler" (Portrait's from the Empire) and "Ernst Krickl'in Likya Günlükleri, 1892" (Ernst Krickl's Lycia Diaries, 1892) exhibitions.
The program will welcome children aged 4 to 6 and 7 to 12, and participants will first visit the exhibitions. Then, they will create different projects with various materials from canvas to acrylic paint, dough to spatula, brushes to clothing and with different techniques.
Other workshops designed for children aged 4 to 6 include "Sünger Baskım" (My Sponge Print) on July 5 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and while listening to "1001 Nights," they will draw on paper, bringing together various materials to create images in their minds from the fairytale. Same age group children, who are interested in clothing design, can join the "Giysini Yarat" (Create Your Clothing) workshop where children will examine clothes that include great details for reading and interpreting Ottoman era paintings. Children will design clothes and dress the wooden mannequin, while having fun on July 5 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The "Saray Resmim" (My Palace Painting) workshop welcomes the younger age group, and children discover painting on canvas by using different materials from sponges to brushes with different methods on July 7 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The same age group can also attend the "Gözünü Aç Kapa Çiz" (Open Your Eyes, Close and Draw) workshop on July 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. where they will try to draw and paint what they can remember from the exhibition with their eyes closed. The workshop aims to enhance children's ability to remember and depict, while offering them the chance to reproduce and create images from their memories.
The younger age group can also attend the "Hamurdan Fincanım" (My Cup Made of Dough) workshop in which they will examine blue and white jugs and cups from the "Server" work of French artist Jules Joseph Lefevre and learn basic ceramic methods, at the same time using auxiliary ceramic materials with PonArt model clay. Children will create their own ceramic cups by kneading, shaping and finally painting the clay on June 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
"Ernst Krickl'in Likya Günlükleri, 1892" (Ernst Krickl's Lycia Diaries, 1892)
Children aged 7 to 12 will examine the traveling route from the province of İzmir to Antalya with travel photos from Ernst Krickl's Lycia Dairy and will design their own travel albums in the workshop held on July 7. Another workshop designed for the same age group is "Saraydan Kaçan Portreler" (Portraits Escaping the Palace) on July 8 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The workshop will offer children the chance to draw portraits they can remember from the exhibition, and they will place these in 2D or 3D locations. The "Kaftan Tasarımı" (Kaftan Design) workshop for the 7 to 12 age group will welcome children after they visit the exhibition to create 2D hangable portraits by using PonArt model clay inspired by costume examples. The workshop takes place July 9 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
