Istanbul will host a wide range of cultural and artistic events this week, from concerts and exhibitions to theater performances.
Theatergoers will have the chance to see "Lady Macbeth" Aug. 12 at Bakırköy Butik Sahne.
"Crime and Punishment," one of the masterpieces of world literature, will be staged tomorrow at Taksim Istiklal Sahnesi, while the play "The Last Bookseller of Gaza" will be performed Aug. 11 and Aug. 14 at the same venue.
"Ninth External Ward" ("Dokuzuncu Hariciye Koğuşu") will also be staged Aug. 11 at Bakırköy Aydem Sahne.
İlayda Hatipoğlu Quintet will perform Aug. 12 at the AKM Multi-Purpose Hall as part of the “Türk Telekom Prime AKM Summer Concerts.”
Fuji, a band that blends diverse musical influences with a contemporary jazz approach, will take the stage Aug. 15 at the AKM Multi-Purpose Hall as part of the same concert series.
The band Arkadaş, which combines alternative and electronic sounds, will meet music fans Aug. 12 as part of the “City Sounds” series, while Istanbul-based band The Flabbies will perform Aug. 14 at Zorlu PSM Vestel Amphitheater.
The 1,600-year-old Şerefiye Cistern, operated by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, will host music lovers throughout August with concerts held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday under the title “Voices from the Depths.”
Artist Songül Acer’s ceramic exhibition Rikkat, which brings a contemporary interpretation to the traditional art of Turkish tiles, will be open to visitors through Aug. 15 at the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts (TIEM) in Istanbul.
Collector Mehmet Çebi’s "Silent Elegance," featuring contemporary calligraphy, hilye panels and prayer beads, can be visited free of charge through Aug. 29 at the Tophane-i Amire Culture and Arts Center.
The group photography exhibition Colors of the Earth, which brings together nature, urban life and human stories from different perspectives, will be on view through Aug. 30 at the Independent Art Foundation.
"Mimar Sinan’s Istanbul," a photography exhibition by Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture academic professor Aras Neftçi, showcasing the works of renowned Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan from an architectural perspective, will be on display throughout August at the Istanbul Provincial Headquarters of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
The group exhibition "Shore of the Sun" will be on display at Kalyon Culture through Sept. 30, while "The Habits" exhibition will welcome visitors at Decollage Art Space through Aug. 30.
Japanese artist Yoko Ono’s exhibition "Insound and Instructure" can be visited at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum through Dec. 27.
