The game "Angry Birds," which is played by nearly 500 million people around the world, will contribute to the promotion of Turkey. Culture and Tourism Ministry Director General for Promotion İrfan Önal said they would conduct projects keeping up with the times to promote Turkey. "For example, we are chasing significant sponsorships and games such as ‘Angry Birds' and ‘Subway Surfers'," said Önal. Emphasizing that Turkey was the sixth most-visited country by international tourist arrivals in 2013, Önal added, "We host approximately 40 million tourists annually, and we earn more than $34 billion from tourism." In addition to highlighting that they had started a global image campaign titled "Turkey home" two years ago, Önal said: "We are always producing content on social media. We want to be one of the top three countries using these platforms effectively. We are one of the five countries that have the highest number of followers." Önal stressed that their target is to spread tourism to all of Anatolia.
