A successful event was held in Algeria by the Istanbul Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters' Association, as part of the Development of International Competition Project (Ur-Ge) of the Marmara Furniture Association (MARMOB).
All 35 members of the MARMOB Ur-Ge project, which was established by the Ministry of Economy, are companies and producers based in İnegöl, a region in Bursa famous for its furniture products. MARMOB aims to increase exports and market diversity with this project, which is expected to last three years. To accomplish this, it is planning to increase its current market share and develop new strategies to access new markets. An event held in Algeria in February was a good start for this purpose. In fact, more than 200 business meetings were held with businessmen coming from every corner of Algeria, with tangible results being reached. With the press in Algeria showing a great interest in the event, the image of Turkish furniture was well covered. MARMOB is going to start new projects after this successful event. The new target markets include Switzerland, which is one of the largest furniture exporters in the world, and India, which has a great market potential, and China.
