The first signal from the Türksat 4B communications satellite, which was successfully launched from Kazakhstan's Baikonur Cosmodrome on Oct. 16, was received from Italy's Fucino ground station at 09:01 a.m. local time. Türksat General Manager Ensar Gül said the satellite exited the atmosphere 5 minutes and 47 seconds after it was launched, adding that it separated from the Breeze-M after 9 hours and 13 minutes. Gül said the reception of the first signal means that the launch of the satellite was successfully completed. After the departure, the Türksat 4B will begin orbiting the globe and is expected to fit into its orbit on 50 degrees east longitude after six days. The satellite will increase Turkey's Internet capacity, and Internet use, through the satellite, will become more common.
