The TÜMEXPO General Trade Fair, which was organized to improve Turkey's exports, started yesterday with more than 1,000 delegations from 34 countries visiting the fair, which will continue until Oct. 25. The fair held at the Istanbul Congress Center brings together various firms active in the machinery, textile, food, automobile, cosmetic and construction sectors along with firms from abroad. The project aims to bring visitors and participants from Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia to promote the contribution Turkey can make to international trade. Turkuvaz Media Group is the press sponsor of the fair and speaking to Turkish daily Sabah, All Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TÜMSİAD) Chairman Yaşar Doğan said 300 firms and 1,000 businessmen (the buying delegation) from 34 countries and about 40,000 visitors will be attending the fair. The fair is part of Turkey's G20 hosting and one of the country's most important economic activities. The buying delegations are also able to make purchases. Doğan also said that it is not just Small and Middle-Sized Enterprises that are attending the fair, but there are also many big industrial companies joining the fair, which increases business volume and cooperation. The buying delegations project is a special program organized by the Turkish Economy Ministry, which offers foreign businessmen the chance to join in during special events in Turkey like fairs as well as hold business-to-business meetings. The ministry covers the transportation and accommodation expenses of these businessmen. The main aim of the project is to support Turkish exporters.
