Turkey signed a bilateral air services agreement with 36 countries as part of the Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN 15), which was held from Oct. 19-23 in the southwestern Antalya province. According to a written statement from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the ICAN 15 aviation conference, organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), broke the record for the number of attendees of any ICAN conference held to date. While Turkey engaged in bilateral discussions at ICAN 15, it signed bilateral air services agreements with 36 countries. According to the revised version of the agreement, flight frequencies will be increased and new destinations will be introduced. Turkey has earned the right of an additional 300 weekly flights and 25 new flight routes. Moreover, these new routes will contribute $600 million to national economy.
The other ICAO member countries that joined the conference signed about 600 bilateral air services agreements, which allowed countries to expand their international network and to fly new destinations.
