Turkish consumers' confidence increased in March compared to the previous month. The consumer confidence index reached to 67 in March rising 0.5 percent, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Monday.
When the details of the index are reviewed, the financial situation expectation of household index increased by 0.5 percent compared to the previous month. The index, which was 89.31 in February, became 89.77 in March.
However, the general economic situation expectation index which was 90.03 in February decreased by 0.7 percent to reach 89.41 in March. This decrease shows that the number of consumers who expected a better general economic situation in the next 12 months decreased compared to the previous month.
The unemployment expectation index increased by 2.5 percent compared to the previous month to reach 67.80 in March. This increase stemmed from the increase in the ratio of people expecting a decrease in the number of unemployed persons in the next annual period.
The probability of saving index decreased by 0.2 percent from 21.05 in February to 21.01 in March. This decrease shows that the possibility of saving of consumers in the next 12 months period decreased compared to the previous month.
The consumer confidence index is calculated every month from the results of a consumer tendency survey carried out in cooperation with TurkStat and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT).
