Overall export volume increased 6.8 pct in January

The Turkish Institute of Statistics released January 2015 Foreign Trade Indices yesterday. According to the released data, the overall export volume index compared to the same month the previous year increased by 6.8 percent in January, and the overall import volume index compared to the same month last year decreased by 2.4 percent. The overall export unit value index decreased by 7 percent in January compared to the same month the previous year, and the overall import unit value index decreased by 11.6 percent compared to the the previous year. The calendar- and seasonally-adjusted export volume index, which was 130.2 in December 2014, increased by 6 percent, to 138 in January 2015. The calendar-adjusted export volume index which was 115.5 in January 2014, increased by 6.8 percent, to 123.4 in January 2015. The calendar- and seasonally-adjusted import volume index, which was 128.3 in December 2014, decreased by 3.8 percent, to 123.4 in January 2015. The calendar-adjusted import volume index, which was 111.9 in January 2014, decreased by 0.2 percent, to 111.7 in January 2015.
