The hunger and poverty thresholds for a family of four have reached TL 1,379 ($478) and TL 4,473, respectively, in October, according to the Hunger and Poverty Lines Survey conducted by the Confederation of Turkish Labor Union (Türk-İş).
Türk-İş announced the results of its monthly survey about the living conditions of families and the reflection of price changes on basic necessities on family budgets.
It calculated the hunger threshold, which depicts the amount of expenditures necessary for a family of four to be able to feed itself with healthy food, at TL 1,379 in October and the poverty line, which depicts sufficient spending for clothing, housing (rent, electricity, water and fuel), transportation, education, health and related expenditures at TL 4,473.
The net minimum wage in Turkey currently stands as TL 1,000.
