Maintaining a level below average, the economic confidence index surged up to 83.33 in a 1.3 percent increase in June from the previous month. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), the increase in the economic confidence index was due to the increase in construction sector, service sector and consumer confidence indexes.
While the economic confidence index hit 83.9 in January, it was previously 71.49 in February, its lowest level since TurkStat first started to calculate the data in January 2012. It then later reached 78.27 in March, 73.46 in April and 82.26 in May.
The index is based on the weighted combination of consumer confidence index related to the manufacturing industry, service, retail trade and construction sectors.
