The price of gold has been at its highest level ever, exceeding TL 132 ($43.73) per gram for four days in a row. A quarter gold coin is sold for TL 215. Continuing its increase along with the dollar reaching as high as TL 3 and the increase in the price an ounce of bullion, gold closed yesterday at TL 131.17 a gram with a 0.8 percent premium.
Following the gold demand caused by a decreasing appetite for risk on Wednesday and the announcement of July inflation data, which exceeded expectations, the price for a gram of gold continued to increase along with the increasing pressure on the Turkish lira, reaching its highest level ever at TL 132.1 a gram.
As of 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, gold was being traded at TL 132 a gram. While a quarter gold coin and Cumhuriyet gold coin are sold for TL 215 and TL 878, respectively, gold was selling for $1,365 an ounce after the yesterday's closure.
