Exports in return for Turkish lira surged 29.37 percent in 2016 compared to the previous year. Turkey's exports stood at around $143 billion in 2016, out of which $7.8 billion was carried out in lira, increasing from the amount of $6 billion in 2015.
A total of 48.21 percent of last year's exports was carried out in euro. It was followed by the dollar, lira and British pound with 42.58, 5.52 and 3.13 percent, respectively.According to the data, a total of $14.2 billion out of $199 billion of last year's import transactions were processed in lira. This means imports in lira in 2016 increased by 5.28 percent compared to the previous year. The imports in lira had stood at $13.5 billion in 2015.
A total of 56.01 percent of last year's imports was conducted in the dollar. It was followed by the euro and lira with 35.38 and 7.18 percent, respectively.
