New rectors for six universities appointed by Erdoğan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on late Thursday has appointed new rectors for six state universities, the list includes several candidates proposed by the Higher Education Board (YÖK) upon the result of the rector candidate elections.
According to the new appointments, Prof. Dr Mahmut Ak has become the new rector of Istanbul University, Prof. Dr Yusuf Ulcay has been appointed to Uludağ University, Prof. Dr. Eyüp Ertuğrul Karsak was appointed to Galatasaray University, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Taşaltın has become the new rector of Harran University, Prof. Dr. Ubeyde İpek was appointed to Tunceli University and Prof. Dr. Peyami Battal has been chosen as the new rector of Yüzüncü Yıl University.
