AK Party seeks signatures to reduce candidacy age limit to 18

AK Party's group deputy chairman said Thursday that his party started collecting signatures from other members of parliament to reduce the minimum age for electing deputies.
Ahmet Aydın told The Anadolu Agency that they will propose a bill to the Parliament for a constitutional amendment to reduce the eligibility age to 18.
The current eligibility age for deputies is 25.
Aydın also said they do not plan to reduce the election threshold.
For a constitutional amendment to take place, at least 184 deputy signatures are required.
