Turkey's Supreme Election Board (YSK) decided to stop the broadcast of AK Party's Nevruz themed election video in its current form as it was claimed that the video violates the electoral law by the inclusion of national and religious symbols.
The video, based on national solidarity along with the arrival of spring that is celebrated as Nevruz Day, included the Turkish flag in several scenes and the footage of mosques and churches were also used.
Upon the appeal of an Istanbul-based lawyer, YSK has decided the video violates electoral law. The related parts of the video need to be removed in order for it to be screened again.
Another video of the AK Party containing the Turkish flag and Turkey's national anthem was stopped from screening by YSK during 2014 local election campaign.
