The State Opera and Ballet (DOB) will stage "I Puritani," which is an opera that was performed in the days of the Ottoman Empire, in the upcoming days. The opera blends love and history and first premiered in 1846. The opera premiered in Istanbul during the Ottoman era and in Ankara during the Republican era. Although the opera, whose libretto was written by Carlo Pepolli, is composed three acts, the DOB excludes some of the parts and accelerates some of the passages in order to reduce the production into two acts. "I Puritani" was composed by Vincenzo Bellini who was one of the most important representatives of Italian opera and especially bel canto, and it was his last opera. The opera recounts the love story of Arturo Talbo, a supporter of the House of Stuart during English Civil War, and Elvira, the daughter of Puritan Governor Lord Gualtiero Valton.
