The exhibition "Rotations" by German artist Zora Volantes will explore the rotation of earth and the effects of light and dark. Inspired by Rumi and the sema - the ritual whirling Sufi dance - Volantes takes the shapes and rotations of planets as focus point. Her installations mostly show the reflections of light on objects. Volantes's previous Istanbul exhibition "Nachtweg" (The Road of the Night) showed how light is reflected at night. Last year, the artist opened her individual performance hall in Berlin. Her "Aurora 2014" displayed paintings depicting solar rotation. She studied sculpture at the College of Arts in Berlin and has received a grant from the Tarabya Culture Academy available until April 2015. The exhibition will open on Tuesday, March 17.
