The "Best German Book Design 2014" collection will be exhibited until April 4 in collaboration with SALT Research Goethe-Institute Istanbul as part of the 51st Library Week, which will be from March 30 to April 4. Apart from the exhibition, manager of the German Book Art Foundation, Katharina Hesse, will give a presentation. The collection, which is composed of 25 books, is the fruit of a competition held by the German Book Art Foundation every year. Through this competition, the German Book Art Foundation intends to draw attention to book covers and their designs by bringing book design and the high quality of its publishing to the forefront, rather than the content. The competition welcomes all publishing houses from around the world including German publishers. However, books from foreign publishing houses should be produced in Germany. The collection "Best German Book Design 2014" is composed of books that can be pointed to as examples of fine design, concept and handicraft. Among the 803 books submitted to the competition, two expert juries will choose five books for five different sections including: General Literature, Scientific Books, School Books, Books on Education, Guidance Books and Research-Study Books, and will select the 25 most beautiful German books of 2014. Before being exhibited at SALT Research, the "Best German Book Design" collection was showcased at the Frankfurt Book Fair and the TÜYAP Book Fair, which took place last November in Istanbul. The collection was handed over to the Goethe-Institute Istanbul and will stay at SALT Research after the exhibition.
