International Francophonie Day is celebrated on March 20 throughout the world, notably among the world's over 274 million French speakers. According to the "International Organization of La Franchophonie," with nearly 80 member countries, French is one of the five most-widely spoken languages in the world and is spoken on every continent. To celebrate the significance of French, many cultural events take place throughout March. In Turkey, French schools have prepared a special program to mark the identity of "Francophonie," embracing French culture and language. Supported by Air France Turkey, the Istanbul French Culture Centerwill organize a short video competition with the theme of "your most beloved French word" among its students. On March 21, Fanfarai featuring 12 musicians from France, Algeria and Morocco, will take to the stage at Babylon. In collaboration with the Istanbul French Culture Center, the musical group will perform a repertoire covering Rai, Chaabi, Jazz, Salsa and Afro-cubain music.
