The contemporary art gallery, Gallery Khas, located within the Cibali Campus of Kadir Has University, which founded the gallery in 2015, is hosting an exhibition, "Giz/li/dir Görüntü" (Hidden Image) by Dr. Erhun Şerbetçi, curated by Professor Dr. Hasal Bülent Kahraman, vice chancellor of Kadir Has University. The exhibition, the third to be hosted at Gallery Khas, which opened on Jan. 7, will run through March 6. Şerbetçi's works focus on "to see" and the "seen," two of the most important questions posed in the history of art. These concepts take on another dimension in Şerbetçi's photographs as he follows the trail of history, questioning current and historical views regarding the image. His work does not present the concrete reality of the trail of history, but due to the reality of being multi-faceted, it makes us question history and what we perceive as real. On the other hand, his photographs reflect what we see and what is seen, what is looked at and what is perceived become unclear as concreteness evolves into an abstraction. Creating vitality is one of the existential concerns of the modern art of photography. While twisting the truth around its own axis through the transformations he presents, Şerbetçi opens up the debate again. Hidden images, images that are caught up in the spiral of fiction and nonfiction, remind us once more that the image is hidden.
