While Galatasaray missed the chance to stay on top of the Turkish Super League as they suffered a 2-2 draw against Istanbul Başakşehir on Saturday, their archrivals, Beşiktaş, reclaimed the top position after they defeated Suat Altınkaya İnşaat (SAİ) Kayseri Erciyesspor 5-1 at Osmanlı Stadium in Ankara on Sunday. Gökhan Töre fired Beşiktaş ahead in the 25th minute. In the 33rd minute, referee Cüneyt Çakır awarded Beşiktaş a penalty when Caner Osmanpaşa fouled Beşiktaş's Olcay Şahan in the penalty area. While Osmanpaşa was shown a yellow card, Demba Ba did not miss the chance and found the net with a penalty shot. The Senegalese striker scored his 15th goal this season. At the end of the first half Beşiktaş's Olcay Şahan found the third goal after an assist from Ba. SAİ Kayseri Erciyesspor entered the second half with a flash and it did not take long for them to find the net. In the 48th minute, Royston Drenthe hit the net from a remarkable free kick. Again taking advantage of poor defense from SAİ Kayseri Erciyesspor Mustafa Pektemek made it 4-1 in the 77th minute and Ramon Motta scored Beşiktaş's fifth goal in the 79th minute.
With this result, Beşiktaş raised their points to 54 in the 24th week of the Super League while Galatasaray remain with 52 points and SAI Kayseri Erciyesspor did not steer away from the relegation zone with 20 points.
