The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) First League, the second tier of the Turkish football league system, set an embarrassing world record. Although just 14 weeks have passed since it started, 13 of the 18 teams in the PTT First League have fired their coaches. Thirty-four different coaches have taken the field this season. This number set a new world record according to the league's Twitter account. The only five teams that have not changed their coaches are: Adana Demirspor, 1461 Trabzon, Altınordu, Göztepe and Samsunspor. Galatasaray's former assistant coach Tugay Kerimoğlu took the head coach job at Şanlıurfaspor last week.
The league was founded in 2000 after it was separated from the Turkish Second League Category B which functioned as the second tier of the Turkish league between 1963 and 2001. It was founded as the Turkish Second League Category A and started with 20 teams. The number of teams was reduced to 18 in 2002. The league was renamed as the TFF First League prior to the 2007-2008 season.
