The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system has revised 29 decisions in the first eight weeks of Turkish football league. In Turkey's Spor Toto Super League, 11 goals were denied and eight direct red cards were given using the VAR system.
With the help of the system, four decisions of denying goals were corrected, four penalty decisions were changed and two penalties were given. On Sunday, when the VAR system broke down for a couple of minutes during the Fenerbahçe-Medipol Başakşehir match, the referee disallowed Başakşehir's goal in a controversial offside decision.
Galatasaray comes out ahead in match week 8 in the league with 18 points, followed by Medipol Başakşehir, Beşiktaş and Kasımpaşa with 15 points each. Fenerbahçe with 8 points is placed 15th in the league, 10 points adrift from the league leader.
