Expert estheticians and cosmetic surgeons from Turkey and different countries from around the world gathered at Istanbul's Adile Sultan Palace on the Bosporus shore on Tuesday for the official launch of 3D and smart dermal filler technologies, which have been increasingly practiced by estheticians both in Turkey and abroad.
Taking place with the attendance of almost 500 estheticians from Turkey, the conference is chaired by Professor Zafer Kurumlu. Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Kurumlu said the conference was held for estheticians who would like to develop their experience in this field. He said 3D facial fillers have become popular around the world. "Facial fillers are administered by cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists as well as experts specialized in it. Experienced estheticians decide on choosing the right dermal filler for the right place. "Sometimes, dermal fillers cannot be administrated on every patient. Smart fillers, which are more long-lasting, durable and require special technique, also need technical talents," he said. "If we look at its rival products, then you can see smart fillers are more popular," Kurumlu added. During the conference, estheticians showed administration techniques, how to choose the right filler for patients, complications, as well as more details on such products. "Such fillers must be administrated by experts. Each practice requires different technique. Both practice and usage have vital roles in this regard," he added.
Professor Reha Yavuzer, a cosmetic surgeon, said that there has been an increasing demand on beauty and esthetics and thereby cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists have to be trained enough to meet it. Yavuzer said that the more cosmetic surgeons are trained, the more successful results they can get. He said these training sessions can help to avoid complications, as well. "Training is important to be successful. This is because we prioritize this organization. When holding a meeting on beauty, it is important to create a multidisciplinary environment. Different branches should gather," he said. Yavuzer said that the history of beauty is as long as the history of humanity. The main target is to remain young and avoid aging, he continued. "Technology helps us. With advancing technology, more high-quality products are introduced. When we talk about smart fillers, we mean fillers that produce collagen. This is why we call them smart fillers. As we can now easily reach information as such practices rapidly come out," he said. Attending the conference from Spain, Iñigo de Felipe y Garate also presented a demonstration on smart dermal fillers.
In the last five years, the number of foreign patients visiting Turkish hospitals has increased fivefold to 583,000, as it is among those countries which are rapidly advancing in providing quality health care in both medical and aesthetic treatment with the assistance of both private investments and government promotions. Turkey has been a popular destination for foreigners, especially for those who are looking to get plastic surgery or a heart operation. The country is one of the top 10 countries in receiving the most demand for health services from abroad. With the number of foreign patients increasing, the Turkish health tourism sector generated $2.5 billion last year, and is expected to generate even more in the following years. Most of the foreigners who get treatment in Turkish hospitals are mainly from Arab countries, followed by the Balkans and Caucasia. The foreign patients with diseases such as scoliosis and spinal tumors stay in Turkey for extended periods of time since the treatment for these diseases include serious surgical operations that leave the patients bed-ridden for some time.
