A prosthesis center established in Hatay's Reyhanlı district has been providing treatment to physically disabled Syrian refugees for the last three years. Founded with the initiative efforts of locals, the center has 20 staff members. Prostheses have helped roughly 2,000 Syrian refugees who have lost their limbs since the war started. Children's prostheses have cartoon illustrations and funny images that make them smile. Muhammed Kanmaz, 28, from the Syrian city of Hama, told an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter that he lost his right arm during an air attack carried out by Assad forces. Informing the reporter that he came to Turkey to receive treatment, Kanmaz said that he stayed in a local health center in Syria, but was unable to make a full recovery. Upon his arrival in Turkey, Kanmaz consulted the center in Reyhanlı and began to use his new prosthesis a week ago. "I did not want to leave my country because it turned into a fiery place. I lost most of my family members and the air attacks took my arm," he concluded.
