The Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul has opened a cosmetic poli-clinic offering a wide range of services including Botox, facial filling, chemical peeling and Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP). The current demand for cosmetic services has urged public hospitals to offer more cosmetic surgeries. Physician Özgür Emek Kocatürk Göncü of the hospital's dermatology department told an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter that 30 percent of patients come in with cosmetic complaints like hair loss, facial spots and acne. "Sometimes, patients go to unsafe cosmetic surgery centers. Previously, it was not possible but now patients can come here and consult plastic surgeons and dermatologists," Göncü went on to say. Göncü said that this service was previously very limited and was only available at a few university hospitals. "I think more hospitals will open cosmetic centers soon," she said.
At the hospital, PRP therapy is used for hair restoration. This therapy can also be used for facial rejuvenation. "I recommend PRP to patients suffering from a pale face and facial spots," Göncü said. The clinic offers meso-therapy, an alternative treatment for baldness that helps both men and women with hair regrowth. "We inject minerals and vitamins in hair cells," Göncü continued. For acne treatment, they prefer chemical peeling and derma-roller treatment. She said that they have received positive feedback regarding their services. "Most of our patients are satisfied with the service," she stressed. The prices at the hospital's cosmetic clinic are much more affordable than other private clinics. Highlighting the importance of receiving the treatment in a hospital facility, Göncü said that they use safe and registered products. "If they have any complaints, they are free to submit it," she concluded.
