An Istanbul court on Friday set the date for the trial of pro-coup soldiers who tried to take over the Istanbul headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and an airport during the July 15 coup attempt.
Some 136 defendants will be put on trial on Feb. 6 and Feb. 23 at a courtroom near the prison they are held in in Istanbul's Silivri.
The defendants face multiple life terms for the coup attempt and membership of a terrorist group.
The Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) is blamed for the putsch attempt through its infiltrators in the army.
