Turkish officials have seized more than 60 kilograms of cocaine worth around $3.4 million from a container at an Istanbul port, the Ministry of Customs and Trade announced Tuesday.
Customs teams at the Ambarlı port discovered the narcotics after detecting an area of "suspicious" density through x-ray scanning in the cooler of a container on a Singapore-flagged ship, according to the announcement.
Teams and detector dogs recovered 62 kilograms of cocaine valued at 12.5 million lira (more than $3.44 million) at the suspected spot.
Investigation into the incident continues.
