Turkish police seize weapons in car en route to İstanbul

Turkish police seized a huge weapons cache in a car which was going from the western city of Kocaeli to Istanbul.
According to Doğan News Agency, the car entered Turkey from İstanbul, carrying 22 full-automatic rifles, a Russian-made heavy machine gun, eight grenades and some 2,700 bullets.
Police found the car in Kocaeli's Gebze district after an anonymous informer alerted security services.
The driver of the car, his pregnant wife and their children were detained. Police raided several houses in İstanbul after taking the testimonies, DHA reported.
Any information about the destination of the weapons has not been revealed as the investigation still continues. The Turkish police and the National Intelligence Agency (MİT) were put on full alert, according to the report.
