A report published by the Mediterranean Touristic Hotel Owners and Operators (AKTOB) claims that the almost 35.8 million foreign tourists visiting Turkey last year spent a total of 292.6 million days in Turkey. Accommodation facilities including hotels were the most popular locations on the list, with 161.6 million stays. A total of 98.8 million stays took place at home, followed by 32.2 million at other venues. Antalya ranked first with the highest number of stays at similar facilities with 47.6 percent. In the same category, Istanbul came second, with 29.6 percent followed by Muğla and Aydın. German tourists spent the longest time in Turkey with 8.2-day stays, followed by Russians with 7.9 days, Belgians with 7.3 days and the British with 7.2 days. The average stays by tourists from Denmark, the Netherlands and Ukraine is 6.8 days.
