The riches of Italian culture are undeniable. However, venues with an Italian feel are quite scarce in Istanbul. Despite lots of pizzerias and coffee shops, only a select few are true to Italian culture.
Without a doubt, one of the best representatives of Italian culture in Istanbul is Cecconi's. Its second branch in Europe is in Istanbul after London as well as having branches in West Hollywood and Miami. What makes this place really Italian is its location inside a building that is an old, Italian palace and serves as Soho House today. The olive trees in its garden, the slim, long lights that hang from tree to tree, stone pavement and the dishes of Italian chef Alessio Biangini take you on a journey to Tuscany. Biangini came from Cecconi's restaurant in West Hollywood. I loved the mushroom risotto and sea food spaghetti. The Venetian sauce on the Carpaccio is again an elegant Italian flavor. Another beauty of the restaurant, which serves lunch and dinner, is its open kitchen. The service personnel are quite professional and insightful. When I visited on Friday evening, it was overcrowded, so not go without making a reservation. There are middle-aged guests from every nation. I believe the interior space, though not as large as the garden, is ideal in winter, as it is warm and elegant. I especially loved the design of the chairs in the kitchen and near the bar section. While talking to Umut Şengun, the marketing manager of Soho House, I learned that Cecconi's yard is going to be covered in a winter garden format in winter. Nevertheless, the roof of this beautiful yard is going to be open for some time. In particular, don't miss the brunch, which started a week ago. Now, they also have a "4 to 7 Aperitivo" concept Tuesday through Saturday so you can try different types of Italian cicchetties and cocktails. The menu for this concept is from the West Hollywood Soho House and very popular in the U.S. For real Italian tastes, visit this place for sure.
When it comes to Italy, another subject that comes to mind is of course espresso. The brand that attracts my attention these days is Caffe Vergnano. Gaining a considerable reputation in espresso by maintaining a family tradition since 1882, Caffe Vergnano's journey started with a small grocery store near Torino in Italy. The most important stage of coffee production, which gives coffee its aro
ma, is the roasting, and this is done with a traditional method specific to Caffe Vergnano. The brand offers many options, ranging from special blends to drip coffee. In particular, I recommend you taste the Miscela 1882 Espresso. Caffe Vergnano has added this great coffee, which is made of high quality and widely acclaimed Maragogype beans to its product line in the 120th year celebrations of its tradition. The vintage coffee milling machines on sale are quite interesting. You should check out this brand, which has branches in Eatly and Maslak Unique.
When talking about what is Italian, it is impossible not to speak of fashion. I received an Etro shirt on my birthday at the beginning of September, so this crazy brand re-entered my life. Contributing unique products to Italian fashion since 1968, it is well-known that Etro has very high prices. But believe me, it is worth it. In particular, the shirts in the men's fall/winter collection are incredible. The blue and black-dominated designs are charming and the paisley silk shirts are magnificent. I strongly recommend you visit the art gallery section on the official website of the brand. Etro products, which are available in Beymen stores in Turkey, are works of art. You can gain real Italian elegance with this brand's men and women's collections.
