To protect birds from cold winter conditions in east Anatolia, 3,000 bird's nests have been placed in trees around the region, the regional directorate of forestry announced. Through the directorate's initiatives, the bird's nests were placed in forests in Erzurum, Erzincan, Ağrı, Iğdır, Ardahan and Kars. Salih Çetiner, the manager of the regional forestry directorate, said they will continue putting up more bird's nests next year. The bird's nests have been placed on tree branches. "When we place bird's nests near a tree's trunk, snakes catch the birds and eat them. So, we place the nests on branches and fix them with metal wires," Çetiner said.
