Germany's international state-run broadcaster Deutsche Welle reported that the world's population is estimated to reach around 7.4 billion in the beginning of 2016. The German Foundation for World Population announced that the world's population has increased by 83 million this year, which is as much as the entire population of Germany. The data suggests that world population increases by approximately 2.6 people every second. It is stated that the population growth is especially observed in developing countries and 75 million women in these countries conceive a baby involuntarily. The news also said that that women's lack of knowledge, failing to practice birth control and gender inequality play an important role in world population growth. Renate Bähr, German Foundation for World Population director said, "One in every four women (over 220 million) in developing countries cannot practice birth control even if they want to. Women, especially young ones, should be able to decide when and how many children they want in order to improve the conditions of people living in poor countries."
