Studying abroad is always demanding, especially financially, and for Turkish students, studying as foreign students in the U.S. is the most expensive option, according to Akare Study Abroad Fairs, a local company on international education. The report, "Abroad Education Costs," show that Kazakhstan is the most affordable country for education abroad, among the 38 countries listed. It costs on average around $4,500 a year to study in Kazakhstan, while this rate reaches $38,000 in the U.S. when accommodation, annual education costs and life expenses are included. The U.S. is followed by Canada at $34,000, Switzerland at $27,000 and Australia at $25,500 dollars.
Based on the study data, the average annual education costs at state universities in the U.S. starts at $23,000, while accommodation and life expenses start at $15,000. In Kazakhstan, annual school expenses start at $500, while life expenses are around $4,000. Studying as a foreign student in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia or Ukraine is relatively more affordable. In Bosnia-Herzegovina, expenses reach $6,000 a year.
Annual education expenses in Asian countries are more than $16,000, with the amount art $13,500 in Japan, $12,500 in China and $10,500 in Taiwan. Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Nazım Özsoylu, a board member at Akare Study Abroad Fairs, said that studying abroad brings its own challenges, especially regarding finances. "The expenses are high in the U.S., the U.K., Australia and Canada, but other countries in Europe like France, Germany and Austria are more affordable. Ukraine, Hungary and Poland have become more popular as study destination over the last few years."
