Petr Poupe decided to go on an unusual journey last month. The Czech adventurer took off his shoes and set out on a world tour, barefoot. The 30-year-old started the expedition from his homeland and has now reached Anatolia. An Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent had the chance to interview this unlikely adventurer in the Black Sea city of Kastamonu.
Poupe said he was working as a computer engineer in his country but quit his job last month to realize his dream of traveling the world barefoot, adding that he crossed over the Turkish border from Bulgaria. "I want to travel through Turkey from the western part to the eastern border, barefoot and explore everything. I cannot wait to discover Turkey's unique nature as well as culture. I know that Turkish people are warm and hospitable and look forward to make acquaintances with them. I have nothing but my backpack. I love sleeping under the stars. I only know the Czech language and English but people do not have to speak the same language to get along. We can [still] tell so much to each other."
Following the interview, Poupe continued on his way. He plans to visit Georgia after Turkey.
