Though written language has been used for thousands of years, it is about to be dethroned by technology according a recent survey.
The survey found that people prefer surfing the internet rather than opening the cover of a book, and only one in 10 picked reading books over the internet and TV.
One-third of the participants said they read less than five books a year, while the rest claimed that reading a book is an important part of their lives.
Most of them said they read books on self-help, adventure and history.
Some 71 percent of the people chose books according to their themes, while 21 percent chose by author. The rest were influenced by advertising.
Furthermore, the survey revealed that people tend to keep up with breaking news through the internet rather than reading a printed newspaper.
