Bombings in the Baghdad area killed at least 24 people Saturday, just days ahead of major Shiite religious commemorations that face significant danger from militants, security and medical officials said.
One blast struck near a tent serving refreshments to Shiite pilgrims on Palestine Street, while at least one more bomb exploded in the vicinity of the capital's southern entrance.
