A senior member of Palestinian faction Hamas said on Saturday that his movement was keen to establish good relations with both Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with the pro-Hamas Al-Aqsa channel, Mahmoud al-Zahar said Hamas was interested in establishing good relations with all Arab and Islamic states without interfering in their internal affairs.
"Egypt and Saudi Arabia are on top of these countries," al-Zahar said.
He said Hamas was also equally interested in having good relations with the United Arab Emirates, describing it as a state that "harbors hostility toward Hamas."
On Wednesday, the Egyptian government appealed a court ruling which designated Hamas as a "terrorist organization."
On February 28, Egypt's court of urgent matters labeled Hamas a as "terrorist organization."
Hamas described the appeal as a "step in the right direction."
Relations between Egypt and Hamas remarkably deteriorated soon after the Egyptian military ousted President Mohamed Morsi in July of 2013.
The media has, meanwhile, been talking about an expected visit to Saudi Arabia by the chief of the political office of Hamas Khaled Meshaal to meet with King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
Both Saudi Arabia and Hamas have yet to confirm news about the potential visit.
