The 22nd Istanbul Jazz Festival has organized a program titled "Jazz in the Park" for Istanbulites on the city's Anatolian side this week. On three different stages in Fenerbahçe Park, free open-air jazz concerts will be taking place today from 5:00 p.m. Jazz in the Park will gather accomplished young jazz musicians who are waiting to be discovered by the larger masses at Vodafone FreeZone Main Stage (Khalkedon), Park Stage and Vodafone FreeZone Acoustic Stage. Young musicians will be accompanied by orchestras and jazz bands.

A lively evening with international and local jazz bands

The Soul Rebels Brass Band, an eight-piece band from New Orleans, which is acclaimed for its blending of jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop, rock and pop, will be the festival's headliners. The group has shared the stage with the likes of well-known acts like Metallica, Green Day, Suzanne Vega, Kenya West and Snoop Dogg. Having performed at the Montreux, Vienna, and North Sea Jazz Festivals, the Gettysburgh College Jazz Ensemble will also be at the Jazz in the Park stage. The Gettysburgh College Jazz Ensemble went on two European tours over the last two years and worked with internationally known musicians like Paquito D'Rivera, Chris Brubeck and Hector Martignon. Featuring brass instruments, Brassist will be the next group with a rich oeuvre from jazz to pop and R&B to funk.

Young jazz musicians on stage

Organized as part of the Istanbul Jazz Festival for the last 12 years, the Young Jazz program, which is a platform for young musicians to be a part of the festival, will take place as part of Jazz in the Park this year. Following the evaluation of the festival committee, Can Koçlar Quartet, Eren Akgün Septet, The Cold Vibes, The Roots of Jazz and Vocca Acapella will perform at this year's festival among other acts at the event.
